Commercial Kitchen Incubator
The Commercial Kitchen Incubator Program (CKIP) is a food business incubator in a fully equipped, shared-use commercial kitchen facility. The CKIP was created in response to the growing need among aspiring local entrepreneurs wanting to build upon the strong food and farming traditions in our region.
The Kitchen Incubator provides all the amenities and necessary licensing to help the participants overcome the challenges of complying with strict food safety regulations, while ensuring safer food for the consumer. In addition, El Pajaro CDC provides technical support, business assistance and access to micro-loans to participants, encouraging the new businesses to expand and succeed.
By accessing the CKIP services, local food entrepreneurs save the costs of commercial grade equipment and kitchens that now restrict their ability to start or expand their food businesses.
Our Community Kitchen Incubator program was a finalist in Ashoka Changemakers’ Power of Small: Entrepreneurs Strengthening Local Economies international competition.
ServSafe certification is required to participate in the CKI
Funded in part through a grant award with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
