Green Business Project

El Pájaro CDC promotes the greening of business by offering training and technical assistance to business owners who wish to learn about becoming environmentally and nutritionally friendly.  Our training includes information on how to comply with environmental standards and regulations, recyclable materials, saving water, minimizing use of hazardous materials, and offering healthy food alternatives.

Why Encourage Green Business?
Legislation is increasingly requiring businesses to conform to environmental standards that protect the environment.  Business owners must learn which standards apply to their businesses and how to comply with those standards.

How Does the Green Business Project Help?
Our assistance helps businesses to serve their communities better by reaching out to more customers, increasing management practices that help to save money and benefit the environment, and finding alternatives to harmful business practices.

Offering Healthy Alternatives
Another aspect of the Green Business Project is to help businesses to offer healthy alternatives to the community as well as supporting local produce.  The Pájaro Valley produces a large portion of the fruits and vegetables of the nation, yet the community suffers from high incidences of obesity and nutrition-related illnesses.  We help restaurants and other businesses to link with local farmers and offer local produce and healthy menu-items.
