Success Stories

El Pájaro Community Development Corporation promotes micro-enterprise and small business development by supporting low-income and minority entrepreneurs in Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties.  We create economic opportunities for the low-income and minority community by providing bi-lingual, bi-cultural business education and training, and professional consulting and technical assistance.

Recent Successes:

  • During fiscal year 2006-2007 we provided 1,828 hours of business education and training, and consulting and technical assistance to current and prospective business owners, exceeding our own goals for the year.
  • We successfully kept the occupancy rate of the Plaza Vigil Incubator at 100%.  
  • We successfully assisted 8 small business owners in preparing loan applications and obtaining loans to a total amount of $355K, ranging from $5-$100K loans.
  • We successfully assisted 130 CalWORKs participants in workshops or with consulting and technical assistance through the CalWORKs Microenterprise Assistance Program.
  • We continued to provide technical assistance and business training to the Watsonville Childcare Providers Association through the Childcare Ventures Project
